East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU)

The East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU) is a 12 bed inpatient service which provides mental health inpatient care for young people aged 16 to 24 presenting with complex and acute mental health issues. The service has a focus on early episode interventions.

EMyU provides 24-hour, seven day a week inpatient assessment, treatment and community care planning by a multidisciplinary team for youth experiencing complex and severe mental health problems. This includes psychosis, depression, severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress, risk of self-harm or suicide and emerging personality disorder.

As a specialised tertiary acute psychiatric youth unit, admissions are only accepted by referral for consumers residing in the East Metropolitan Health Service catchment area. Adult Mental Health Programs

Bentley Mental Health Service (BMHS) provides a comprehensive range of specialist Adult and Older Adult mental health services, operating at Bentley Health Service (BHS).

Services for adult patients aged 18 – 65 include:

  • Acute inpatient mental health services
  • rehabilitation services
  • community mental health services.

Services for older adult patients aged 65 and above include:

  • Inpatient mental health services
  • community care
  • hospital-based day therapy service.

In all areas, services are provided with a recovery focused multidisciplinary care coordination approach, working collaboratively with other specialities at BHS including medical, nursing, psychology, social work and occupational therapy to provide the best care possible.

Adult Community Mental Health Services

The Bentley Community Mental Health Service provides outpatient services for adults (aged 18+) with a wide range of psychiatric and psychological disorders. 

Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT)

The Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) is the first point of access for all consumers. The ATT provides initial assessment, clinical advice, treatment and care coordination for up to ten weeks.

Using a team approach, the ATT create individualised care plans for consumers, and provide emergency support after-hours, seven days per week.

Active Recovery Team (ART)

Provides an intensive, recovery focused 12 week care coordination for consumers with co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug issues, that have frequent Emergency Department attendance or inpatient admissions.

This service comprises of a partnership model with Midland, Bentley, City East Community Mental Health Clinics and NGO organisations Holyoake and MIFWA.

Community Mental Health ATT will be the central point of contact for the ART team/referrals.  The service commenced and  operates Monday to Friday 0830 – 430pm and a weekend service at Bentley and City East.

Clinical Treatment Team (CTT)

The Clinical Treatment Team (CTT), also based at Mills Street, receives all referrals via the ATT. This multi-disciplinary team, comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists, provides assessment and care coordination for consumers requiring care for more than 10 weeks.

ATT after-hours support times:

  • 4.30pm to 10pm (Monday to Friday)
  • 8am to 10pm (weekends and public holidays).
