East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU)

The East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU) currently is a six-bed inpatient service which provides mental health inpatient care for young people aged 16 to 17 presenting with complex and acute mental health issues. The service has a focus on early episode interventions.

Following some essential site works in coming months, the service is due to expand in mid-August to accommodate 12 beds and increase the age range to 16 to 24 years.

As a specialised tertiary, acute psychiatric youth unit admissions are only accepted by referral for consumers residing in the East Metropolitan Health Service Area. Please contact 08 9416 3666 for more referral information.

Adult Community Mental Health Services

The Bentley Community Mental Health Service provides outpatient services for adults (aged 18+) with a wide range of psychiatric and psychological disorders.

From 5 October 2015, the Mills Street E Block clinic services changed to provide consumers with an improved model of care. This involved the introduction of a new Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) and Clinical Treatment Team (CTT) to improve the journey for consumers and deliver a more streamlined and timely service for both consumers and referral agencies.

Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT)

The Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) is the first point of access for all consumers. The ATT provides initial assessment, clinical advice and treatment for up to ten weeks.

Using a team approach, the ATT create individualised care plans for consumers, and provide emergency support after-hours, seven days per week.

Clinical Treatment Team (CTT)

The Clinical Treatment Team (CTT), also based at Mills Street, receives all referrals via the ATT. This multi-disciplinary team, comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists, provides assessment and care coordination for consumers requiring care for more than 10 weeks.

After-hours support

After-hours, mental health advice and support is available from:

  • After-hours GP services
  • Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL): phone 1300 555 788
